Back To School

September is here and for me this marks the start of the best months of the year. Sofia is back to school and as much as I miss her this is a perfect time for me to catch up on all the household chores I have been neglecting over the past few week (my skirting boards are so thick with dust!) and also to really start preparing for the colder and more cosy months. I was dreading my alarm going off super early but I woke to a slight chill in the air and the sun only just starting to rise, it was the perfect motivation to get me up and ready for what the next few months will bring!

The first thing on my agenda is a long and quiet walk with just me and the dog. It will give me time to clear my mind, some much needed exersise and to collect some pine cones and good sticks ready to burn when the cold really sets in! Sadly this year we lost a pear tree in our garden but it has provided us with plenty of firewood for the coming months!

With the pine cones I've made some lovely little firelighters which I have linked below! I've also been drying oranges which also make great firelighters as well as making the house look very festive!

On to my favourite part of the colder months, the cosy food! I've been happily batch cooking, storing comforting food away in the freezer ready for a rainy day. Like most of you who grown your own or have friends and family with allotments you often end up with plenty of vegetables to use up so I've been making plenty of vegetable sauce for us to enjoy over the next few months! We use this over pasta or gnocchi with loads of cheese and it's delicious and such a good way of getting some extra veg in! I'm going to get out my slow cooker and air fryer and start practising some new recipes in those just in case the energy bills are going to be as scary as predicted and we all can't afford to run our ovens!!

And last but not least, I have to mention that I've been buying a few bits and bobs for the home to bring it into autumn! TK Maxx is always a safe bet for the cutest homewear and the absolute best for bargain candles but I find that Asda really comes into its own this time of year! I got Sofia some cute skeleton PJs, a Halloween Mickey Mouse Tracksuit and the cutest pumpkin blanket!!

Thank you for reading! I'm sure I'll be back with more ramblings soon! x
