A Whole New September

A whole new September is a bold claim but this year it absolutely feels it.

For anyone who doesn't follow me on my social media accounts, we have moved house!

We aren't far from where we previously lived, 40 mins by car, however we are in a whole new county, new schooling for Sofia, new neighbours (mostly sheep and cows) and somehow a whole new way of life!

So why did we move?

Well I have always wanted to live in the countryside. My husband however was absolutely against it. It didn't stop me sending him houses on Rightmove for years and I mean a good 7 years 😂

One rainy December day, just before Christmas, I sent him this lovely little bungalow (our daughter is special needs and is disabled so needing an accessible house was part of the reason for our move) in a really lovely village about 20 mins away from our home. It needed work but the views were stunning...

I used to send my husband at least 10 houses a week so I expected him to not even acknowledge my message but to my huge surprise he replied that we needed to book a viewing immediately! I was at my Nans house at the time and we were both feeling very excited!! A viewing was promptly booked and an offer was accepted on the basis that we are to sell our house and theirs would remain on the market till ours was sold.

A few messy months and complicated months later we found ourselves sadly looking for a different house.

A month or so later, we were driving to a lake on Bodmin Moor for a family dog walk and Matteo was napping in the car so we decided to just drive around for a bit so he could continue his snooze. We drove through a pretty little hamlet and I made a mental note of the name of the pub (it was a lyric from a favoutie song of ours and also its very rare for a tiny hamlet to have its own pub!) and decided I was going to look on Rightmove when I got home to see if there was any houses there for sale.

There was one.

And it was a smidge out of our buget. I googled it and it was a little longer commute than my husband would like but it ticked EVERYTHING on our checklist. The selling point was the stunning garden!

Long and stressful story short, we are now happily moved and living our best lives in the Cornish countryside!

Our old garden was really tiny, north facing and not safe for the kids at all so to be able to have this gorgeous garden to call our own feels like the biggest blessing!

I'll pop a youtube video of our garden here if you fancy a nosy, we've not done too much to it since!

If not, I do carry on yapping below 😅

The kids now have a swing set and we have got to work planting a few bits in the vegetable garden...

So here we are. September has arrived in full force. It's actually still incredibly warm here (23c and sunny as I type) which despite my longing for the colder months constantly I am finding myself enjoying.

We are currently doing a spot of decorating which is lovely however like most things, everyhting is getting delayed or not going to plan.

I had a vision of typing this sitting in our newly redecorated living room on our cosy new sofa with the fire burning away and a hot cup of tea but sadly the sofas keep getting delayed and we haven't finished the fireplace yet. My husband and I are incredibly impatient people however the quietness of the countryside seems to be keeping us level headed while we wait for everything to fall into place.

Some autumn bits I bought and laid out for the kids plus some new cosy PJS!

Every year before typing my annual September post, I go back and read all my old ones. It amazes me how different they all are.

Last years I wrote feeling purely content in life. We finally had 2 children and life genuinely felt great. I had no idea what the future held for us or the insane stress we were about to embark on however it was completely worth it.

I do always type these however with a view towards the future and my short term goals and aspirations.

This years seem almost silly if I'm honest and would leave my husband rolling his eyes at me (considering that my husband and I don't actually have a bedroom until we convert the loft space! 😅)

I really want new window's, new external doors and our driveway tidied up. I'd quite like a nice crunchy gravel driveway. And while I'm here, I'd love a new kitchen. My husband agrees on the last point however we absolutely cannot afford it 😂

Thank you for reading, it genuinely means the world to me.

Love from Natalie x
