I wait all year to type this blog post, so here goes...

Sofias first day back at school always feels so poignant. The start of the school year has always felt like the start of my year too. The start of the ‘bermonths. The start of my happiness.

The start was at 6am. My alarm made me jump out of a very broken sleep. I'm still nursing our 6 month old around 4 times a night which is exhausting but this morning felt different. It was dark, the sun just rising.

I left the window ajar overnight and there was a definite chill in the air. I got out of bed with a spring in my step and into a hot shower ready to start my day. I wished I had an autumn scented body wash and made a mental note to pick one up to use once my summery mango one has run out.

I was prepared for today. I pre made mac n cheese for Sofias lunchbox yesterday. All I had to do was heat it back up in the oven and then add to her thermos pot. Perfect. I also made some waffles yesterday which I froze ready to warm up in the oven at a moment's notice for a perfect breakfast. We had them with some fruit compote and Greek yogurt. Perfect.

We all got wrapped up and left for the school run, it was raining but I didn't mind. Matteo had his cosy pumpkin hat on which was given to us by a lovely friend (the same friend who hand drew my logo!) As the rain got heavier, we popped the rain cover over the pram and Matteo drifted off into a lovely sleep while my husband, the dog and I went on a long walk. It was perfect.

I feel like I parent better this time of year. My mind is calmer but also excited. Running 100mph thinking mainly about Christmas. Thinking about seeing the first pumpkins in the supermarket. The first fire in our log burner. The first frost. Our baby boys' first Christmas...

I just went back and had a look at last year's post. I had made a list of everything I wanted to achieve last year. One of them was to replace the garden stones... we did that last week haha! The other was to buy a new apple plug and I still haven't done that!

I feel like this blog post compared to previous years is full of pure contentment. I have everything I could ever need! If you're my husband reading this however, I really want that beautiful coat I tried on when we visited North Wales!

That’s all from now…

Love from Natalie x
